With the arrival of snowy weather, The Town of Redcliff would like to remind residents of their snow removal obligations under the Town of Redcliff Street Bylaw 1968/2024.
Under Street Bylaw 1968/2024, property owners and occupants are required to remove snow and ice from public sidewalks adjacent to their property within 24 hours of snowfall or when a hazardous condition forms. Keeping sidewalks clear ensures safe access for pedestrians, children walking to school, and emergency personnel. Street Bylaw 1968/2024 can be viewed here
Helpful Tips:
– Shovel snow from the sidewalk onto your own property, and never onto the street or neighbouring property.
– Clear the full width of the sidewalk down to the surface to prevent slips and falls.
– Keep fire hydrants accessible by clearing snow around them.
– Ensure storm drains remain open to prevent flooding and ice buildup.
– Whenever possible, lend a helping hand to neighbours who may need assistance.
Non-Compliance:
Failure to remove snow within the required timeframe may result in:
– A Violation Tag being issued, and/or
– The Town completing the work at the property owner’s expense pursuant to the Municipal Government Act.
Please watch out for Town graders and trucks working to clear our roads.
Let’s work together to ensure our community’s sidewalks remain safe for everyone to use!
