REDCLIFF/CYPRESS REGIONAL LANDFILL

The Regional Landfill is a joint venture by the Town of Redcliff and Cypress County. It is set up as a separate entity governed by the Redcliff Cypress Regional Waste Management Authority (RCRWMA) made up of representatives of both municipalities. The Town of Redcliff, as per an agreement, acts as the administrative body that operates the landfill.

The RCRWMA approves all operating budgets of the landfill and has separate audited financial statements prepared. These statements can be viewed in the Financial Reports.

Landfill Closures

There may be times when the landfill is forced to close or restrict materials taken due to high wind events as per Alberta Environment requirements. The decision whether to do so or not does follow particular guidelines; however, the operators at the landfill have the responsibility and power to make such a determination. While these decisions often change quickly, if ever in doubt we suggest calling the landfill ahead of time.
