Members of the Intermunicipal Committee, which includes the Town of Redcliff, City of Medicine Hat, and Cypress County have announced an upcoming update to the Tri-Area Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP). A link to the news release can be found by clicking here.
The purpose of an IDP is to establish a regional framework for attracting and coordinating economic opportunities and managing land use, subdivision and development in the area.
The last update to the IDP was completed in 2020. These plans are not intended to be static documents and require periodic reviews and updates to reflect continually evolving conditions.
The Intermunicipal Committee is working to implement the following key objectives within this update:
• Greater protection of lands for future urban development
• Greater protection of lands for future/emerging economic development opportunities
• Greater flexibility for residential development outside of urban areas
